What are your thoughts on going vegetarian or vegan?
Benjamin Franklin Was a Vegetarian for the same reason I am a vegetarian. It seems wrong to kill animals for food, and besides, our body doesn't need meat to thrive.
I'd feel differently about it if meat were necessary. For example, if I were in the far-north and no vegetation was available and I was without food and starving, I might then kill an animal to eat. But since that's not the case, since I live in a society with plenty of vegetarian food available, I stick with a vegetarian diet.
Vegetarianism is healthy. In fact, it is a major health issue now that meats are becoming contaminated with mad cow disease and avian flu. What next?
I became vegetarian at the age of 17... I'm much older than that now. (I have five adult children.) There were times in my life when I slipped off my vegetarian diet due to pressures from my ex-husband and in-laws, but I'm happily back to eating vegetarian-style now and probably will never eat meat again.
