On my list of things that are working well in my life, I'll put reading near the top. I made it a goal to read fifty books this year. So far
I've read 27 books so I'm fairly well on track to meet my goal. A lot of those were audio books... I'm now reading one on Kindle for PC (a free app though the book cost nearly 10 dollars). I like both the book and the free Kindle app!
I'm a slow reader, so the audio books work well for me. Right now I'm reading one by Dr. Wayne Dyer. I just finished
The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner a few days ago - another audio book. Very trippy book written mostly in stream-of-consciousness from three different points of view. The first section was from the point of view of a retarded man, and it was so confusing... but once I figured out what was going on I just took it as it came and appreciated the experience for what it was.
Before that I read
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls... an autobiography of an amazingly dysfunctional childhood. She's such a survivor!
On
my TBR list I've got stuff listed such as
Don Quixote - which is so long and tedious it is taking like forever to get through it. I can read about a chapter at night before sleeping. Sometimes less than a chapter. But I know if I keep at it I'll get through the very thick novel... maybe in a year or two..
Speaking of classics, one of my favorites is
To Kill A Mockingbird ... if you haven't read it, take a look. (Or if you have...) That was named the best novel of the century and is a lot easier to read than
Don Quixote or
The Sound and the Fury.
